Volunteers play a vital role at the Natural History Museum of Utah.
Hundreds of volunteers contribute thousands of hours each year to help the museum accomplish its goals.
- Gallery Interpreter, Biology
Gallery interpreters use conversation, demonstrations, hands on activities and games to engage visitors and spark excitement, curiosity, and appreciation for the natural world in the Life and Great Salt Lake Exhibits.
- Gallery Interpreter, Paleontology
Gallery interpreters use conversation, demonstrations, hands on activities and games to engage visitors and spark excitement, curiosity, and appreciation for the natural world in the Past Worlds Exhibit.
- Classroom Assistant
Individuals will assist museum staff with facilitated field trips. responsibilities include assisting in set up, clean up, and teaching lessons to 4th and 5th grade students that integrate science process skills and content. When not facilitating field trips, individuals will participate in program evaluation, development, data entry and preparation/organization of supplies and materials needed.
- Field Trip Facilitator
Volunteers will be responsible for the orientation of K-12 school groups as they arrive to the Museum and will help to engage students with a variety of exhibits on the floor. This includes checking in, explaining Museum policies, setting and reinforcing expectations for conduct and help with lunches. Volunteers will work to ensure school groups feel accommodated and supported throughout their visit.
